Rationalization

Spent the day huddled in my room finishing NSF proposals. Apparently the only difference between me and the other members of the panel -- they did the same on planes, arriving this evening.

When Sloan Williams arrived, we went off to dinner. Decided that because we'd been virtuous and stayed at a Best Western rather than the Hilton, we could afford a nice dinner, so off we went to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Crystal City.

Nice view and good steak, but I'm not sure I quite get all the PR about the place. The waiter told us about their specialty steaks (for a mere $68 ala carte)- Kobe beef - fed beer daily and rubbed down with Saki, making for a VERY relaxed cow and thus supposedly tender beef. We passed. I will say, their house Pinot Noir was excellent, highlight of the meal. That, the view, and the company.

hey! When do you return? If you have time in between fine wine and sleepy-cow-steaks, we are in the area: 703.860.5234

Oh man! Can't do it, they keep us locked up in a little room for 8-12 hours a day. I'm so tired right now I could sleep thru Wiley's snoring.

We might get done early tomorrow afternoon, if so I'll give you a buzz. My plane doesn't leave till 7. But that's a big "if".

PS -- I want Board details. Will call for gossip!
