Tonight the department will be hosting Jim Bellis's retirement party at the LaSalle Grille. Mmmm mmmm good! If you want to send Jim a note, his email is bellis.1@nd.edu. Should prove to be a nice remembrance, and I'm sure some banjo playing will take place. Pictures will be posted here tomorrow following the festivities (those that are fit to publish that is...;-)

ANTARCTICA FUN FACTS: The Antarctic continent has two main roles with global climate: it's the area of the Earth with the most important heat loss towards space, and also the Antarctic ice sheet acts as a long term water storage system in the global water circulation. There are 45 permanently manned stations, 15 of those perform balloon launches and thus can provide vertical profiles of the atmosphere.
