2007 Books Read

I'll be changing over to 2008 Books Read, here's the summary of books in 2007, with a few rankings --

FAVORITE BOOKS --
I liked "A Thousand Splendid Suns" more than "The Kite Runner", enjoyed the history of Gilgamesh in "The Buried Book" and found the last Harry Potter alot of fun.

WORST BOOK --
This one's a no-brainer. Tho' this did make for several fun bog entries, and is now on the list of a few archaeologists teaching about archaeological fraud.

So, time well spent...I guess.

MOST EDUCATIONAL --
I knew nothing about Teddy Roosevelt; "River of Doubt" also had some interesting information about the Amazon, and the Father Zahm angle was likewise fun. "Einstein" provided an interesting glimpse into the mind of a genius, plus I learned a bit of physics.

BRAVEST BOOK --
The front half of the book is a pretty pedestrian summary of politics in the Middle East. But, when former President Carter gets to "The Reagan Years" this becomes an honest accounting of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict with some hard-learned insights of note. The flak he received for this book proves my point about 'bravery'.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENTS --
"Sickest" was anthropologically wrong in many cases; "Wild Trees" didn't live up to the hype; and, in "Cross Bones" Reichs got caught with some questionable archaeology "experts".
MINDLESS FUN (good Break books)--
